Wheels within Wheels or something like that ...

This weekend on our MONOTYPE IN LAYERS workshop we were discussing the winner of last year's SAATCHI GALLERY SUNDAY TELEGRAPH ART PRIZE FOR SCHOOLS 2009. The girl who won came from Durham Johnson School in Durham where one of our students is a teacher. Jane Cunliffe the teacher to whom I refer has done a fantastic job of bringing printmaking to the school where it is positively thriving due to Jane's enthusiasm. Jane very generously said Horsley Printmakers could claim a small proportion of success from Lauren Mincher's success although I struggle now to remember how she worked that one out since lauren's winning entry was a pencil drawing of her grandfather not a print. Although Jane did refer to how Lauren had also come to master the art of drypoint which Jane learnt to do through one of our workshops and passed on to her students.
